"Iconic North American Landscapes"

a mini hoop embroidery kit subscription idea explained & questions answered

WHO IS IT FOR?

if you’re up for a little challenge and enjoy working with single-strand embroidery, this is for you.

this subscription is designed for stitchers who:

  • love the look of clean, satin stitch landscapes
  • enjoy slowing down with a more detailed, precise process
  • feel connected to (or inspired by) North American nature – mountains, lakes, deserts, coastlines

each kit is a small-scale project, designed to be both meditative and satisfying, delivered to you every couple of months.

it’s also for those who love the idea of building something over time – a small, cohesive collection of pieces that fit beautifully together.

this project won’t be for everyone, and that’s intentional. before moving forward, please take a moment to consider whether this style of stitching and pacing feels right for you.

WHY WOULD I SUBSCRIBE?

because this isn’t just a kit – it’s a collection you build over time.

every two months, you’ll receive a carefully designed embroidery kit that becomes part of a wider series.

by the end of the year, you won’t just have finished a few projects, you’ll have created a curated set of landscapes that belong together.

think of it as: a small creative pause, delivered to your door a way to stay consistent with your stitching without having to plan your next project a chance to explore beautiful places through thread.

each design is intentionally small, detailed, and refined, something you can complete and feel proud of, without it becoming overwhelming.

and because this is a limited pilot, you’ll be part of shaping it as it grows.

Q&A:

thank you so much for your interest in this pilot project, and for taking the time to answer my initial questions and bring up your own, which I'm answering today.

so before moving on to part two of the questionnaire, please take a moment to read through a few points I've laid out below.

1. budget & pricing

I'd like to make this subscription as affordable as possible without compromising on quality and including supplies you might already own.

short answer is yes.

I think it's a lovely idea to offer a pdf pattern subscription alongside the kit one. it will most likely run a month behind the kit subscription, but it will be more budget friendly.

as of right now, this is undecided. but you can help me finalise the options by taking part in the part two of the survey, link at the bottom of the page.

at the moment I am considering:

  • bi-monthly charge per kit (cancel any time)
  • commit to 3 kits with a small discount
  • commit to the entire pilot (6 kits) with a bigger discount

there is also an option to check out using "Pay Later" schemes and spread the cost this way.

you'll be able to purchase it using your currency of choice or the default currency based on your location, so there is no conversion fee for you.

sure thing, you are helping me build this project, it's only fair.

as of August 31st 2025 I am required to collect the US tariff on all physical products, which roughly works out to be around 10%, but it does depend on the nature (HS CODE) of the item you're purchasing.

this tariff is collected automatically by a third party integration that works with the US government, and calculated by them at checkout. I then pass on this tariff to the US customs through my shipping partner.

if anything changes, I will implement those changes immediately.

rough numbers breakdown:

kit price: $34
embroidery kit tariff: ~$7.27
total price: ~$41.27

shipping to the US for a kit this size would roughly be $18 USD.

orders shipped to Canada may be subject to import taxes and handling fees upon arrival. these charges are set by Canadian customs and are not included in your order total.

in most cases, you can expect:

  • local sales tax (5–15%)
  • a small handling fee from the delivery provider

I recommend allowing around 15–30 CAD in additional charges, depending on your order value and location.

rough figures for the subscription kit (prices to be finalised) could be £30 kit + £10 shipping:

  • total order cost: £40 (~$70–75 CAD)
  • on delivery you can expect: ~$15–20 CAD extra in local fees

shipping to Canada for a kit this size would roughly be $18 CA.

2. what will be included

I have a concept and some things in mind, but nothing is final yet.

to an extend, absolutely.

I would love to offer a few extra optional items you may or may not already own. things like embroidery scissors, minders, reading light. you'll b able to opt in/out of those. exact items are to be finalised.

your standard Mouline embroidery thread. you'll be stitching with a single strand of it.

I won't be including a full skein of thread due to the size of the projects, and instead there will be just enough for the project and then some.

absolutely!

the best way to put the design directly onto fabric is to transfer it using a heat-erase pen. another option is to print it directly onto the fabric.

the first option allows room for error and less stressful stitching as you can (and should) remove the traced lines once you're done stitching the design with a bit of heat (iron, hair dryer, etc).

the printed fabric is also a good option, but it is permanent. light thread colours won't cover the lines properly even if you embroider over them. but of course, this option completely removes a big part of the prep.

right now I'm considering offering both options.

3. landscapes

these will be small scale designs of iconic places focusing on single strand stitching and detail.

this is a pilot project.

I understand the concern about being located in Canada and stitching a US landscape, and vice versa. but the key is in the name.

for this project I'm not interested in designing niche landscapes only locals would relate to. I'm talking places like Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Lake Louise. those are the type of iconic I mean. that's why the pilot will be all about North America as a whole.

depending on how the pilot does, I will consider separating the two giants in the future.

I also understand that for some politics might be at play here, but I urge you to keep those out when it comes to nature and art. Yellowstone didn't chose to be located in the USA, and Banff didn't get to vote on which country it is a part of.

I understand that the political divide is strong at the moment, but we're talking mountains and rivers and lakes and canyons, not tariffs and border crossings.

not sure yet! it's a question I ask in the part two of the survey (link below).

4. general questions

short answer is I don't think so. however, it depends on what you are already used to stitching. have you tried single strand stitching? if not, give it a little go by stitching a small sampler you can download HERE.

and go from there.

not at all. it's for everyone interested, except for those who's located in countries I do not ship to.

Germany
France
Middle East
Africa
South America

then this might not be for you. however do consider if you're open to trying it out.

you can download a sampler pattern here to test it out.

from the UK as that is where I am based. 🇬🇧

like I said, this subscription is not for everyone.

what's I'm offering here is quite specific and unique, and if you don't see yourself enjoying it or having the time to do so in the first place, that's okay. the last thing I want is for you to hoard embroidery kits you will never use.

however this will be a limited kit subscription. each kit will be available to the subscribers once and discontinued immediately after.

part || of the survey

this is where you can help me shape this project further and in detail. thank you in advance for your help!
