This Mt St Helens PDF pattern is a little part of the whole PNW Volcano collection in collaboration with the one and only, talented and just an amazing human being, Giselle from @hoopsnmore. She kindly agreed to collaborate with me on a totally new to the embroidery community piece of art, product and experience.
Our main end-product and outcome of the collaboration is actually a semi-kit, a set of mini hoops made by Giselle in her studio in Chicago which is available for purchase in her Etsy Store, check it out if you’d like to create these small volcanos in 2” stitching area each. She will also kindly send you the PDF pattern for each of the designs along with the mini hoops. They are absolutely adorable and we worked tirelessly for over a month tweaking everything to near perfection.
This PDF pattern is not designed for mini hoops. Instead it is focused on 4 sizes: 4", 5", 6" and 7" but obviously, you are welcome to do some printing magic and scale the template to whatever size you like.
This digital download consists of 1 PDF (23 pages) which includes:
- Printable templates of Mt St Helens design in 4 different sizes mentioned above
- Printable template of Mt St Helens design which has been simplified in 5" design in case you'd like a simpler version
- Full step by step process guide including diagrams, illustrations and photos
- Thread colour guide for DMC thread (not required to use exactly)
- Recommendations and advice on supplies
- Creative suggestions and tips

Vika has the most unique patterns. The Summer Stitchalong didnot disappoint. It is easy to transfer and the idea that I can choose the size makes it perfect!
She did include a color pallet but said we could choose our own too.

I'm trying really hard not to fall in love with satin stitch but Vika is making that challenging!
This practice (starter) kit was absolutely perfect. I was skeptical of the small hoop at first but there was nothing wrong with this kit. The smaller hoop was easier to manage and this particular hoop was perfect to ensure that drum sound on the stretched canvas.
Everything in the kit was a beautiful quality, instructions were detailed and easy to understand, and the supplies were phenomenal.
I would stitch this kit 100 times if I could. Highly recommended!

I tried this out as my learner piece, intentionally using a canvas instead of fabric (and because that's what I already had in the scraps bin). I also chose a range of greens since I didn't have a full range of blues on hand. I really enjoyed stitching this! I'm looking forward to doing my next piece.
Haven't started the project yet but was very pleased to see it came with a guide and not just the pattern. Can't wait to get started!
