These bobbins are not your typical plastic bobbins. Usually plastic bobbins are made to have a fairly wide gap for holding your thread, which only really holds heavy threads securely on the bobbin. 

These bobbins feature a very narrow gap and will hold even the lightest of weights of thread, single strand included!
